JANE MANUS
MILESTONES:
FORM & FREEDOM
SPRING CLOSE FARM | EAST HAMPTON
Summer 2026
Jane Manus is a minimalist sculptor recognized as a significant figure in contemporary abstraction. Blending striking geometric shapes with lyrical movement to create commanding aluminum sculptures of varying sizes and scales, she transforms industrial materials into sculptures that evoke a sense of architectural grandeur.
“I make large sculptures of painted or brushed welded aluminum that are both geometric and suggestively figurative simultaneously. As a visual artist, I am always aware that public landscapes are themselves an amalgam of geometric shapes and figurative shapes. My idea of public art—and the manifestation of that idea in the creation of my large sculptures—is simply grounded: it says that art can be brought into the space of daily life; that art can and should go where people are, instead of people having to go where the art is.”
Based in West Palm Beach, FL, Manus studied first at Rollins College before enrolling in the Art Institute of Boston. Her work has been widely exhibited in prominent public spaces and museum collections, including the Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art at Cornell University, Mississippi Museum of Art, Wichita Art Museum, Cornell Fine Arts Museum, Harn Museum of Art, Georgia Museum of Art, Lincoln Center/List Collection, Flint Institute of Art, Boca Raton Museum of Art, Vero Beach Museum of Art, and Lowe Art Museum at the University of Miami.
