J. Mackey Gallery of East Hampton represents established as well as emerging artists with an emphasis on the rich artistic history of Long Island. Highlighting artists from Brooklyn to Montauk, the gallery features celebrated Long Island artists including Phyllis Baker Hammond, Eliza Geddes, Arthur Pinajian, Ellen Ball and Chris Kelly. Through a series of exhibits and lectures, the gallery explores the artistic process and cultural context of contemporary works examining 20th and 21st-century painting, drawing, mixed media, sculpture and photography.
The gallery represents the estate of celebrated American sculptor and East Hampton resident Phyllis Baker Hammond (1930-2024) and is entrusted with a selection of the estate of Long Island painter and Armenian-American, Arthur Pinajian (1914-1999). Pinajian was a contemporary of Jackson Pollock and Willem de Kooning, whose lyrical landscapes and midcentury masterworks extend the historic legacy of Long Island artists.
