ELLEN BALL
BEYOND YOUR
GLITTERING EYES

6.27 - 8.3

Through this timely exhibition, Ellen Ball employs large scale mixed media paintings to explore the tension between women’s empowerment and entrapment by beauty standards and conventional expectations. With an emphasis on iconic forms, distilled to their abstract minimal shapes, lines and contours, her work has been described as “highly textural, ripe with visual tension and questions of interpretation.”

Ball’s background as a graphic designer for years in New York City influences and inspires her work and is evident in her choices of imagery and application. After receiving her BFA from Denison University, she went on to study at the Studio Arts Centers International in Florence Italy, the New York Studio School, and Parsons School of Design.  Ellen now splits her time between Greenwich, CT and the east end of Long Island -both locations that add meaningful inspiration to her work.

Throughout her artistic career, Ball has collaborated with influential artists and photographers including legendary rock photographer Mick Rock. “Once I Had A Love” is featured in the show.

Her work can be found among the collections of prominent figures in fashion, entertainment and design.
